First Technical Cooperation workshop between the Angolan Ministry of Transport – AFD – CODATU: key players in the mobility sector get together
As part of the cooperation agreement between MINTRANS, AFD – Agence Française de Développement and CODATU, the first workshop was held yesterday, Thursday 30 November, in Luanda. It focused on the challenges of developing urban passenger transport services.
This event brought together the main players involved in the mobility sector in Angola: representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Interior, representatives of provincial governments and municipal administrations, public and private bus operators, rail operators, etc.
On the basis of foreign experiences (Abidjan, Lagos and Dakar) presented by CODATU and AFD experts, the participants were able to share their thoughts on several themes: planning, governance and financing of the transport sector, intermodality, and many others were mentioned.
The event was attended by Jorge Bengue, Secretary of State for Land Transport, and Valerie Tehio, Director of AFD in Angola.
The rich discussions on mobility in the Angolan capital, and in other cities in the country, have helped to guide the next stages of our technical cooperation programme. We’ll be sharing more information with you soon!
