THE FRENCH EXPERIENCE IN URBAN MOBILITY – A COLLECTION OF GOOD PRACTICES FOR CITIES IN THE SOUTH

Since 2008, AFD and CODATU have been working together to promote sustainable urban mobility in developing and emerging countries, notably through technical cooperation projects and the production of thematic guides and publications.

French mobility authorities have internationally recognized experience and know-how in organizing and managing urban mobility systems based on effective governance models.

Based on this observation and on the request of cities in the South, CODATU and GART, in partnership with AFD, are proposing a collection of good practices in sustainable urban mobility based on French experience, intended to serve as an example or source of inspiration for cities in the South, in the form of thematic sheets.

By putting them into perspective with the mobility challenges in cities of the South (introduction), the sheets deal with different themes: governance and planning of mobility, intermodality, operation of public transport networks, shared mobility, electric mobility, and digital technology.
