Walk21 Calgary 2017: Call for Contributions

“(Re)
Connecting Communities Together”

Next year, from 19th to 22nd September 2017, Walk 21 will explore the emerging walking city of Calgary, Canada, and look at how walking fosters healthy, vibrant, connected communities and encourages cities to become more resilient and sustainable for an urban future.

Hosted by the University of Calgary in partnership with Walk21 and the City of Calgary, the conference will bring citizens, academics, urban planners, health care professionals, and community leaders together to discuss and design our walkable futures.

The Walk21 Calgary conference program will feature keynote and plenary sessions, symposia, breakout presentations and walkshops in downtown and suburban Calgary. Delegates will experience Calgary’s emerging walkability, and be exposed to new ideas about how walking can connect people and communities. We will reflect on the lessons of the past, create new knowledge and examine social dynamics to build momentum for the new walking city.
