They will be exhibiting at the 1st African Paratransit Fair: Meet Kouakou Franck Anderson Zogou

In the lead-up to the 1st African Paratransit Fair, we are pleased to introduce the companies, organisations and innovators driving the modernisation of paratransit across Africa.

In this first interview, meet Kouakou Franck Anderson Zogou, Founder of On-Go Africa, an Ivorian startup developing a shared electric mobility service based on electric minibuses and digital solutions tailored to the realities of paratransit.

In this interview, he shares his background, his vision for the future of the sector, and explains why On-Go Africa chose to exhibit at the African Paratransit Fair.

Could you introduce yourself and your organisation?

My name is Kouakou Franck Anderson Zogou, and I am the Founder of On-Go Africa, an Ivorian startup based in Grand-Bassam that provides shared electric mobility solutions.

My journey began in the paratransit sector itself. Before becoming an entrepreneur, I owned and operated gbakas (shared minibuses) in Abidjan. I hold a degree in law, am a self-taught entrepreneur, and was selected for the Greenpreneurs 2025 incubation programme run by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

Today, On-Go Africa is working to modernise paratransit in Abidjan through a fleet of electric minibuses accessible via a mobile application with daily, weekly or monthly subscription plans. Our pilot project will launch in October 2026 on the Treichville–Anani corridor in Abidjan.

Why did you choose to exhibit at the African Paratransit Fair?

The African Paratransit Fair takes place in Abidjan during the very month we are launching our pilot project, making it a unique opportunity.

More importantly, it brings together exactly the stakeholders we are working with: paratransit operators, mobility authorities such as AMUGA, development partners, investors and other key actors in the sector.

On-Go Africa was born from within the paratransit sector itself. We want to demonstrate that meaningful transformation can be driven by the sector’s own stakeholders, while building connections with similar initiatives across Africa.

How does your solution contribute to the modernisation of paratransit?

Our conviction is simple: paratransit cannot be modernised against its operators, but with them. At On-Go Africa, our approach is built on three pillars. First, electrification, by working in partnership with existing gbaka owners rather than replacing them. Second, digitalisation, through a mobile money subscription model that provides greater predictability for both passengers and operators. Finally, service quality, with comfortable vehicles, reliable schedules and transparent fares.

Our promise to passengers says it all: “The gbaka you know. The comfort you deserve. At a lower cost.”

How do you see the future of paratransit?

Paratransit carries the vast majority of urban travellers across Africa. It is not disappearing—and it should not disappear.

Its future lies in a gradual transformation: professionalising operators, progressively electrifying fleets, integrating paratransit into urban mobility policies, and giving paratransit operators access to finance and data.

Today’s vehicle owners and drivers must become partners and beneficiaries of this transition—not its victims.

That is precisely what we want to demonstrate in Abidjan.
