Dominican Republic : Participation in the workshop ‘Designing Safe, Healthy and Accessible Streets’

At the end of August, the FIMUS team, comprising Codatu and Expertise France, took part in the workshop ‘Designing safe, healthy and accessible streets’, organised by the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI) in collaboration with the Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional (ADN) and the Instituto Nacional de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (INTRANT).

The workshop brought together professionals in the fields of mobility and road safety to discuss issues relating to the design of safe, shared and accessible streets, as well as the application of these principles in the vicinity of schools.

Through presentations, discussions and practical exercises, participants explored the principles of the Global Street Design Guide and their application to the context of the Dominican Republic. In particular, the workshop provided an opportunity to share experiences and challenges encountered in Santo Domingo and to foster inter-institutional dialogue between the various stakeholders in mobility and urban planning.
