Discovering modes of transport in Antananarivo (Madagascar): The bicycle taxi

Follow Jean-Jacques Helluin, Executive Director of Codatu, in a series of videos dedicated to the different ways of getting around the Malagasy capital.

In this second episode, he introduces us to the bicycle taxi.

Appearing a few years ago, bicycle taxis have become popular on certain congested routes, such as in Anosibe. What is their added value compared to traditional minibus transport (taxi-be)? Their average speed, especially during rush hour! Thanks to their agility, these bicycle taxis weave between vehicles and save precious time.

This emergence illustrates a real diversification – and even decarbonisation – of mobility, in response to the declining performance of the taxi-be, which is hampered by congestion.

Stay tuned! Next episode: the taxi-be (minibus)
