CODATU at the Business Forum in Antananarivo

On 25 April 2025, CODATU participated in the Business Forum organised by the Higher Institute of Technology of Antananarivo (IST). This event provided a unique platform for exchange with students, recent graduates and local economic actors.

Through its participation, CODATU highlighted its activities in Madagascar, as well as its overall objectives in cities in the Global South. The organisation has been working for over 40 years to promote sustainable, inclusive and locally appropriate urban mobility policies in developing countries.

A dedicated stand presented CODATU’s missions, in particular the ‘Zotra Fitaratra’ project, a programme to modernise ‘taxi be’ in Greater Antananarivo, for which CODATU is providing technical assistance. Numerous discussions took place with visitors who were keen to learn more about local initiatives to promote more sustainable and inclusive urban mobility.

In addition, Jean-Jacques Helluin, CODATU’s Executive Director, also gave a presentation entitled: ‘Current developments in mobility in large African cities: successes, failures and lessons for Madagascar’.

This opportunity for exchange allowed participants to learn from African experiences in transport and to contribute to the discussion on solutions adapted to the Malagasy context.

The day was a great opportunity for CODATU to showcase its commitment to Madagascar, engage with local youth, and reaffirm its broader mission to support cities in the Global South in transforming their urban mobility.

Many thanks to IST for its warm welcome and to everyone who came to learn about CODATU’s work.
