CODATU
and AMGVM (Association of the Mayors of Madagascar Large Cities) sign an original and ambitious convention

Mr. Paul Razanakolona, President of the Association of the Mayors of Madagascar Large Cities (and Mayor of Antsirabe), and Mr D. Bussereau, President of CODATU, just signed a convention (that you can download at the bottom of this page). This convention aims to support the Mayors of Madagascar in the management of their growing issues concerning urban transport and planning.

The AMGVM was born in 2016, after the end of a political crisis in Madagascar, and the local elections in the fundamental level of decentralization in Madagascar. It gathers the largest cities of Madagascar (Antananarivo, Tamatave, Diégo, Mahajanga, Fianarantsoa, Tuléar, Fort-Dauphin, Antsirabe, Ambanja, Ihosy, Antalaha, Morondava, and the islands of Nocy-Be and Sainte Marie which possess the status of urban municipalities), which represent about 70% of the GDP of the country and 7 millions inhabitants.

This convention aims to reinforce the technical capacities of the agents of the municipalities regarding the management and planification of the urban mobility, to support the Mayors in the construction of a political vision for the development of their city in this field, and to help the realization of projects which aim to improve the urban mobility. CODATU and AMGVM will be enabled to represent each other in conferences or other negociation places.

The first step of implementation of this convention will consist in the realization by CODATU of a diagnosis of the mobility in large cities of Madagascar.
