October 14, 2014: Symposium CODATU – CNAM in Paris – “Climate change: A common opportunity to transform urban transport?”

At
the twenty-first Conference of the Parties (COP21) that will be held in Paris in December 2015, the negotiations should establish a new international agreement to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. Eighteen years after the Kyoto Protocol signature, this new agreement should bring a binding framework -entering into force by 2020- to fight against climate change.

In September 2014, the UN General-Secretary, Ban Ki-Moon, is organizing an international submit that aims to prepare the discussionsthat will take place in November 2014 during the COP20 in Lima. It is in this context that this journey, organized by CODATU and its partners takes all it sense since it aims to:

– Remind the role that can be played by urban transport in developed countries as in developing countries on the fight against climate change,
– Review the advancement of the negotiations and take into consideration their impact on urban transport sector,
– Mobilize the transport stakeholders in France for them to get the fight against global warming as an opportunity to innovate and improve mobility-offering especially in urban areas.
