Paratransit takes centre stage at meetings and exchanges in Abidjan!

On the sidelines of CIMDC 2026, on Monday 19 October 2026, Codatu and AMUGA organised, with the support of the AFD – Agence Française de Développement, an evening event dedicated to the paratransit ecosystem at the Mövenpick Hotel in Abidjan.

🌍An event to bring together stakeholders and initiatives

Following opening remarks by Romain KOUAKOU, Director-General of AMUGA, François DUROVRAY, President of Codatu, and Sonia Lioret, Head of Infrastructure at AFD in Côte d’Ivoire, paratransit operators, public authorities, international organisations, companies, start-ups, vehicle manufacturers, funding bodies and professional organisations came together around a common goal: to jointly drive the transformation of paratransit in Africa.

The programme for this meeting included:

  • Discussions on the future of paratransit, focusing on the challenges of structuring, modernising and integrating such services into urban mobility systems, with contributions in particular from Karine Andriamiraho, Head of Codatu’s Indian Ocean Delegation, W. Aristide GAHIE, Director of Planning and Studies at AMUGA, as well as representatives from the High Council of Road Transport Companies of Côte d’Ivoire (HCPETR-CI), the National Coordination of Bus Stations of Côte d’Ivoire (CNGR-CI) and the Cooperative Society of the Union of Lagune Transport Operators of Côte d’Ivoire (SCOOP UTL-CI).
  • Presentations of projects and initiatives to highlight the solutions and measures undertaken in the sector, notably featuring presentations by Moja Ride, Carcul and Mbay Mobility.
  • A relaxed networking session to encourage interaction between the various stakeholders, identify areas of complementarity and develop new partnerships.

This evening event thus facilitated networking, the exchange of experiences and the emergence of new prospects for collaboration between the various stakeholders in the ecosystem.

It also marked the launch of the CIMDC 2026 paratransit programme, which will continue on 20 and 21 October with workshops, presentations and the sharing of experiences.

🤝 A collective effort to build a better-integrated, more structured paratransit system that is fully recognised as an essential component of African mobility!

Codatu and AMUGA would like to thank the AFD – Agence Française de Développement for its support in organising this enjoyable event, which provided a wealth of opportunities for discussion.
