A week dedicated to sustainable mobility in the Dominican Republic

To mark Sustainable Mobility Week, held in late September in the Dominican Republic, Codatu and INTRANT organised a number of key events to raise awareness, trial initiatives and drive forward projects promoting more sustainable mobility.

On the programme:

  • To mark World Car-Free Day, a street in front of a school was temporarily closed to traffic to become a ‘children’s street’, featuring awareness-raising and leisure activities.
  • Sustainable Mobility Forums in Santo Domingo and Santiago brought together institutional stakeholders and professionals from the sector. In particular, they provided an opportunity to present the FIMUS programme and the activities planned for 2027.
  • In Piantini, the neighbourhood was pedestrianised for a morning, accompanied by a tactical urbanism initiative carried out with students.
  • Finally, the first PMUS-RD Strategic Committee meeting was devoted to approving the actions to be developed as part of the FIMUS programme over the coming years.

These various initiatives form part of the FIMUS programme, with the support of the European Union and the French Development Agency, and with the involvement of Expertise France and Egis alongside Codatu and INTRANT.
