Participation in the Transport and Climate Change Week

Jenny Salinas, Codatu expert in data analysis and GHG emissions at MobiliseYourCity, attended the Transport and Climate Change Week, which took place from 22 to 26 September 2025 in Berlin.

She presented projects related to climate change adaptation and the decarbonisation of paratransit led by Codatu, MobiliseYourCity and Resallience with funding from ADEME.

During the session ‘Estimating the GHG mitigation potential of the paratransit sector”, Jenny Salinas explained how paratransit, a central element of urban mobility in many cities in the Global South, contributes significantly to urban transport emissions. Decarbonising this sector could be one of the ultimate goals of its reform.

Representatives from several countries, including Senegal, Morocco, the Philippines, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Thailand, Algeria, Rwanda and Saint Lucia, shared their vision of adapted transport and stressed the importance of integrating data collection into decarbonisation strategies for this sector.

A side event focused on climate change adaptation explored how cities can integrate climate change adaptation into their sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMPs). It was also an opportunity to present the knowledge products developed by Codatu, MobiliseYourCity and Resallience with the support of the French government (ADEME).

Participants from Uzbekistan, Armenia, Morocco, Colombia and Cameroon shared their local experiences of extreme weather conditions that generally affect their cities/countries and their transport systems. The discussion focused on ways to adapt territories and financing options.
