Following the CODATU mission in Dakar in January and various preparatory meetings, here is some information concerning the 18th World Conference of CODATU:

Dates: from 9 to 11 November 2020: SAVE THE DATE!

Place: Abdou Diouf international Conference Center in Diamniadio, Dakar

Main topics:

  • Digital revolution and urban mobility: what are the development scenarios of actual systems and new opportunities for developing cities? How can South cities “leap-frog” over some stages of mobility development?
  • Urban transport system, governance and sustainable economic model (investment and operation): what institutions, what xapacities and what funds to meet the challenges of the future?
  • Paratransit: how to successfully professionalize the sector? What are the levers for action to integrate paratransit to a more global, physic and institutional mobility system?
  • Urban sprawl and mobility: how to avoid the scenario of a low-density city and make the city accessible for people living in suburbs? How to overcome the difficulties of urbanism-transport integration?

CETUD

Le Conseil Exécutif des Transports Urbains de Dakar (CETUD) est l’autorité organisatrice des transports urbains de Dakar (Sénégal). C’est un établissement public à caractère professionnel créé en 1997, lors d’un processus de réforme des transports urbains. C’est un cadre de concertation entre l’État, les collectivités territoriales et les acteurs privés concernés. Sa mission est d’organiser la politique de transports publics sur la région de Dakar et consiste principalement en la régulation de l’offre et l’amélioration des conditions d’exploitation des opérateurs et donc des conditions de déplacement habitants de l’agglomération de Dakar.

The Executive Council of Urban Transport of Dakar (CETUD) is the Public Transport Authority of Dakar (Senegal). It is a public establishment with a professional character created in 1997, as part of a process of urban transport reform and in a consultation framework between the State, local authorities and the private sector. Its main mission is to organize the public transport policy in the Dakar region by regulating the supply and improving the operating conditions and so the commuting conditions for the local inhabitants.
