Seminar Mediterranean Skhirate (Morocco) - January 22-23, 2008

The seminar initied by the World Bank and CODATU. It will take place for two days at invitation by the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior. It is intended for the decision-makers, professionnals, high-ranking officials (State and local), elected representatives and persons in charge of urban transport.

Apart from the Moroccan actors, 60 to 70 participants are expected from countries of the Maghreb (Algeria, Tunisia), of Middle East (Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, Yemen), and from European countries.

It will focus on the following:

"Urban transport: organization, planning and financing"

and will be organized around four specific topics:
Institutional organization, regulation, planning and citizen participation
Economic issues (costs, fare, subsidies) and financing (public, private, PPP)
Transportation modes for a service of quality (bus, tramway, subway...)
Traffic management and parking policy
