| Missions
CODATU (Cooperation for urban mobility in the developing world)
was born from the world conference on the urban transport,
organized in Dakar in 1980.
It's an association with international vocation whose objective
is to promote the actions of animation and scientific exchanges,
technical, economic and social concerning the systems of urban
displacements and periurbans ; it is based on experience sharing
between the developing countries and the countries in the
past industrialized.

CODATU
achieves this goal:
- by the promotion of exchanges of information between its member,
- by the organization and the sponsorship of regular meetings in particular of international congresses,
- by the coordination of research, studies and of experimentation, in particular via technical committees
- by periodic and occasional publications,
- by causing training activities in partnership with its members.

why ?
- because, in the majority of the countries, the cities concentrate today the majority of the population and a significant part of the national economic development,
- because the conditions of displacement are an essential
element of the quality of the life, what makes improvement
of the urban and suburban transportation a social and political
stake major,
- because the effectiveness of the cities, it is that their markets (gone of goods, labour markets) whose operation depends closely on the effectiveness of transportation,
- because the professional and institutional field of the urban transport is split up, local and that the whole of the actors feels the need for an organized exchange of experiments.
Who adheres ?
CODATU relates to the whole of
the professionals and persons in charge for the field of the
urban and suburban transportation
The members are representatives :
- training, consulting and research,
- local organizations and authorities organizing transport,
- engineering companies, industrialists and infrastructure,
- country or groups of country in the shape of regional national
committees,
- physical people.
The national public institutions
can have the membership of right. |
