Speech of M. Dominique Bussereau, CODATU’s President during the Inaugural Session

By choosing to join this national Indian event, CODATU wished to mark the 20th anniversary of the « Institute of Urban Transport », a technical body of the Ministry created at the end of the CODATU VIII conference in New Delhi in 1996.

During the inaugural session, Mr. Dominique Bussereau, President of CODATU, announced CODATU’s desire to strengthen partnerships between cities in the north and cities in the south, in order to meet the challenge of sustainable urbanization of the world. An appeal will be launched shortly by CODATU, on the basis of the work carried out at the Conference, with a view in particular to preparing the next CODATU Conference which will take place in Dakar in 2020.

The sessions of the International Scientific Committee

The International Scientific Committee of the conference, composed of members from key institutions of the urban mobility sector, chose as theme for the conference « Transport for Inclusive Urban Societies », in order to highlight the key role of transport in the access of different socio-economic groups to professional and social opportunities.

  • Exclusion in transport;
  • Environmental issues;
  • Goods in urban areas;
  • Safety and security in urban transport;
