President of CODATU, Dominique Bussereau, met the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, on June 5, 2018, to present the global call for a cities alliance on sustainable urban mobility. This call was launched by CODATU in Montreal on June 1 at the Movin’On summit, and it is now a question of identifying the cities of the North and the cities of the South that will implement it. The Mayor of Paris is currently President of the C40, a network of one hundred of the world’s largest cities committed to climate change and representing ¼ of the world’s GDP, and has agreed to broadcast our call in this powerful network.
Various opportunities are being considered for CODATU to get the message across, including the upcoming Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, which will bring together key non-state actors globally. In addition, the commune of Paris has about ten partnerships with developing cities where CODATU is currently conducting activities (such as Dakar, Rabat, Cairo, etc.) and it has been agreed to study case by case the possibility of working together. on some aspects of urban mobility in these cities, including parking policies, public space management, and air quality.
